To call Australia , you have to dial: International access code (011) + Country code(61) + Melbourne Area Code (4) + Number you wish to call.
So the correct sequence is...
011 61 4 310 29054

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to comment on any of your blogs, but I think I may finally have something worthwhile to contribute...You're well aware of the amount of (stupid) experience I have in Australian phone situations, so I can tell you with a fair amount of certainty that the correct dialing sequence is:
011 61 4 310 29054
Also, I'm not sure how much you'll want people doing this, depending on your phone plan, but just FYI, texting costs the same to/from your number as it does to any other local number around here (for AT&T people, anyway).
In other news, I've downloaded Skype and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my headset. When that happens, it's on...and Jama, I have several funny stories for you!

Hey guys! It sounds like things are going well for you. I am glad that the food is good and the weather cool! It is upper 30s, close to 40 in Austin and I die a little each time it breaks 100 F.
